About Sarah Moore Dance
Our Journey
Sarah Moore Dance began in 2016 when Sarah was invited to teach Musical Theatre Dance at Chichester Festival Theatre, alongside an independent class. Soon after, she added an adult ballet class, and Sarah Moore Dance was born.
Our first workshop, ‘White Christmas,’ was held in December 2016, and we’ve continued to host end-of-term workshops ever since!
Growing with Our Community
As demand grew, Sarah recognised the need for daytime classes tailored for older adults who preferred not to attend evening sessions. These classes, focusing on community and the joy of dance, expanded to include tap, contemporary, ballet, and musical theatre in Chichester.
In February 2018, coinciding with her son Adam starting nursery, Sarah launched classes in Southsea at the newly built CourtX and Friendship House. Initially offering musical theatre, the classes soon expanded to include ballet, tap, and workshops.
Expanding Our Horizons
In 2019, during Sarah’s pregnancy with her second son James, Jess joined the team initially as maternity cover and later as a permanent teacher, allowing us to further expand our offerings. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought unexpected challenges, but we adapted by moving our classes online. Our free daily online class was enjoyed worldwide, helping us stay connected and keep dancing. Even after resuming in-person classes, our online program remains a vital part of our offerings.
Recent Developments
In 2022, we introduced barre fitness classes in Southsea and moved from Friendship House to the Havelock Centre. Summer 2023 saw the launch of our inaugural New Park Arts Festival, featuring workshops throughout August to keep everyone dancing during the summer break. In September 2023, we launched classes in Eastergate, which now offers Barre Fitness and Dance Fitness to the east of Chichester.
Our Team
In 2024, we welcomed Amanda, our social media manager, and Shaun, our administrator, to help keep everything running smoothly who work alongside our 7 teachers. We couldn’t be happier as we embark on our adventures bringing the joy of dance to as many people as possible!
